This is according to Buster Olney’s blog (Insiders Only), but apparantly the Tigers aren’t shopping Curtis Granderson as aggressively anymore. There’s a quote from an official who says the outcry over Granderson may have caused the Tigers to take a step back on trading the popular centerfielder.
granderson is,if not one of the best CF’s in baseball!can’t get enough for him!cannot compete for world series without his not only offensive power from the leadoff spot but his defensives skills and speed.we do not let him steal enough.turn him loose on the bases and lookout.NOT a tiger fan alive that does not like curtis!!remember this is the DETROIT TIGERS not the CLEVELAND INDIANS!hopefully we don’t start following the way they run a team!!!

I think it’s coming to light that this entire storyline was blown way out of proportion. The Tigers were willing to see what they could get for marketable players, and it seems at this point like – at least with Granderson – that it would cause more problems than it solves.
I bet it has almost nothing to do with outcry, and I would love to see one of these reports say, “No more anonymous officials or scouts” unless it reveals a fact.
An anonymous official guessing at why X team might do Y with Z player is as worthless to X team’s fans as the guy calling into the radio show.
It seems to have been established that you can find a front office official or scout who will affirm almost literally any viewpoint as long as it’s anonymous.
